Smith's Newest Digital Video Highlights Life-Saving Valor During Combat Mission

Mount Hermon, LA — Washington Parish Sheriff candidate Jason Smith (R-Mount Hermon) released the newest in a series of digital videos with personal testimony from a fellow Marine. Smith's efforts to save Chris Ayre's life and rescue others on a 2004 combat mission earned Smith a Silver Star.

In the video, Ayers (Capt. USMC, Ret.) tells the story of Smith's heroic efforts in Iraq. A rocket-propelled grenade hit Captain Ayers, causing a life-threatening injury to his leg. The enemy then surrounded him. Jason Smith led an effort to reinforce Ayres' platoon. Once Smith reached Ayres he reassured the ailing marine that he would make it home to see his family.

Smith's significant experience with crisis management, combat, de-escalation, and officer recruitment are showcased in the digital video, proving his credentials and experience qualify him for the office of Washington Parish Sheriff.

"He sacrificed his life that day to save mine," said Ayres."[...] Jason Smith will stop at nothing to protect the people that he's charged with taking care of. Jason Smith will be a fantastic Sheriff."

Election Day is October 14, 2023.
